1 of 250 Examples!
This 1966 Dodge Charger is one of 250 examples produced for the model year with a 426ci Hemi V8 and a four-speed manual transmission, and it was delivered new to Greene Motors of Little Neck, New York. The car was repainted in green and the engine was rebuilt and converted to hydraulic lifters prior to 2005, and it was sold on BaT in March 2022. Features include a Sure Grip differential, retractable headlight covers, brown vinyl upholstery, front and rear bucket seats, a push-button radio, electroluminescent gauges, power steering, front disc brakes, and black steel wheels with hubcaps. The wheels, tires, and tachometer were replaced under current ownership, the speedometer was serviced, and the fluids were changed. This Hemi Charger is now offered in California on dealer consignment with a fiberglass scooped hood, other spare parts, a copy of the window sticker, manufacturer's literature, a Certicard, a copy of the punch card, a production record from DaimlerChrysler, and a clean Oregon title in the seller's name.
The car left the factory in Dark Green metallic (GG1) and was refinished under previous ownership. Exterior features include retractable covers over quad headlights, a fastback roof, a body-width taillight panel, a remote-controlled driver-side mirror, chrome bumpers, bright beltline and rocker-panel moldings, reverse lights, and “426 Hemi” badging. The taillight lenses and the windshield were replaced in the mid-2000s.
Black-painted 15″ steel wheels with fratzog-logo hubcaps are mounted with 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires; the wheels and tires were replaced under current ownership. The car is equipped with power steering. Front disc brakes have been installed to complement rear drums. The brake fluid was bled in April 2025. The cabin features four bucket seats trimmed in brown vinyl with a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpeting. Front and rear center consoles offer upholstered armrests, and other equipment includes folding rear seats, entryway lighting, a heater/defroster, a push-button AM radio, bright trim, and front and rear seatbelts. The passenger-side window regulator was repaired in preparation for the sale.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for alternator status, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 53k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership. An aftermarket oil-pressure gauge is positioned ahead of the center console, and a toggle switch has been added beneath the dashboard to activate an electric fuel pump. The electroluminescent instrumentation was rebuilt under prior ownership. The tachometer was replaced and the speedometer was serviced in June 2025.
The 426ci V8 Street Hemi came equipped with a pair of Carter AFB four-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 425 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt under previous ownership, and hydraulic lifters were adapted. A compression test was performed in April 2025, the cooling system was flushed, and the engine oil and filter were replaced.
Power is dispatched to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear end with a Sure Grip differential. The transmission was rebuilt in 2007. A copy of the window sticker shows initial delivery to Greene Motors and lists factory options along with a total price of $4,470.10. A copy of the Chrysler record card, the warranty Certicard, manufacturer's literature, and a production record from DaimlerChrysler will accompany the vehicle. The trim tag has been removed from the car and is shown above. A green-painted fiberglass hood from U.S. Body Source is included in the sale along with other spare parts that are pictured in the gallery.
