FOR SALE!
This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS sport coupe is powered by a replacement 454ci V8 linked with a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear end. The car was purchased by the owner in 2007 and subsequently refurbished with work that involved repainting the body in Classic Copper with white stripes as well as re-trimming the interior in Sandalwood vinyl. Equipment includes a center console, a horseshoe shifter, and an AM/FM radio as well as a cowl induction hood, 15″ Rally wheels, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. This Malibu SS sport coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title.
The car left the factory finished in Classic Copper, and it was repainted during the refurbishment completed in 2012. Details include a cowl-induction hood, white stripes, hood pins, SS badging, and dual exhaust outlets. The 15″ Rally wheels are mounted with 245/60 front and 275/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires that were mounted in 2025. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The cabin was re-trimmed during the refurbishment completed in 2012, and the front bucket and rear bench seats are upholstered in Sandalwood vinyl. Interior appointments include a horseshoe-style shifter, a center console, a Delco AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. The SS-branded steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and gauges for amperage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 9,600 miles.
The 454ci V8 is a replacement unit that was reportedly rebuilt in 2009. It is topped with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and a cowl induction air cleaner assembly. The engine identification stamps are pictured in the gallery below. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear end that was fitted with a 3.08:1 limited-slip differential under current ownership according to the selling dealer. The dual exhaust system has Flowmaster mufflers.
The transmission identification tag is pictured above, and a photo of the TH400 transmission's partial VIN stamp is included in the gallery.
