This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC is reportedly one of a number of narrow-body examples that received a cosmetic conversion by AMG in Germany and was ordered via Leasing Unlimited Corp. of Union, New Jersey, for private importation to the US. Features include a color-matched AMG body kit with front and rear bumper covers, side skirts, and a decklid spoiler as well as 16″ AMG Penta wheels and AMG suspension components. Power is supplied by a 5.0-liter M117 V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Inside, heated and power-adjustable front bucket seats trimmed in tan leather are accompanied by an AMG steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, and a power sunroof. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026, and service performed in preparation for the sale involved replacing the driveshaft center support and bearing as well as the fuel injectors, spark plugs, distributor cap, ignition coil, and various vacuum lines and fuel hoses. This C126 is now offered in San Diego, California, with manufacturer's literature, a Carfax report, and a Wisconsin title.

The car left the factory finished in Classic White (737) and a color-matched AMG body kit is reported to have been installed by AMG in Germany in the spring of 1985. It features AMG badging, front and rear bumper covers, side skirts, and a decklid spoiler. The car was repainted under prior ownership by the Patina Collective, and AMG serial numbers are shown up close in the gallery.

Further exterior details include Euro-spec headlamps with washers as well as a power sunroof, an automatic antenna, pillarless side windows, and twin exhaust tips. The left-front indicator lens is US-specification with a reflector, while the right-front indicator lens is Euro-specification without a reflector.

The 16″ AMG Penta wheels are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires, while a non-matching spare wheel wrapped in Michelin rubber is stored in the trunk compartment. The car was fitted with AMG springs, shocks, and wheel spacers under previous ownership. Braking is via power-assisted ventilated discs with ABS.

The heated and power-adjustable front bucket seats have position memory and are trimmed in tan leather, which extends to the individual rear seats with headrests. Matching leather and burl wood trim adorn the center console, door panels, and dashboard. Coco-style mats line the footwells, and additional appointments include cruise control, automatic climate control, power windows, seat belt extenders, and a power-adjustable passenger-side mirror. The Becker Grand Prix 1480 cassette stereo and antenna were installed in July 2026, and an Audiomobile amplifier is mounted in the trunk compartment. The headliner is sagging at the rear, and wear is visible on the carpets.

The four-spoke AMG steering wheel fronts a 160-mph VDO speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and a combination gauge monitoring fuel level, fuel economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 49k miles, and the selling dealer notes that total mileage is unknown.

The 5.0-liter M117 V8 features Bosch fuel injection and was factory rated at 231 horsepower and 299 lb-ft of torque in European-market form. Work performed in July 2026 involved replacing the fuel injectors and seals as well as the idle stabilization tubes, spark plugs, distributor cap, ignition coil, and a number of vacuum lines and fuel hoses.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The center support and bearing were replaced ahead of the sale.

The Carfax report is free of any accidents or other reported damage with an initial entry in 2023. The initial entry lists a mileage that is higher than the current odometer reading.

The car is titled in Wisconsin but located in California. It has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair and has not passed a California smog test.
